Introducing, Myself, the Butterfly
By Zaina Starr
This creature, here lies the caterpillar.
Temptation has set in with physical cravings that satisfy the flesh, to act as a filler.
She has stumbled upon tribulations of greed, pride, addiction, and the love for men.
All lead to persecution, but she is still here, despised by her storms in her life.
Restrained, she is known as the blind one, who is absorbed into a cacoon.
Perseverance from the spirit has set in, initializing metamorphosis.
My imperishable soul, so soon.
The abundance of joy, ready to win, here is the eternal life of acceptance, emerging through the mold.
This way, this truth, my life, is freedom from sin.
The beautiful, fluttering light, it is my salvation as foretold.
This beautiful soul, the butterfly, who is “me”.
This is my new kin.
