Lily of the Valley

Psalm 103:15

“The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field.”

What is the Lily of the Valley? There are several meanings. It is mentioned fifteen times in fifteen different versus in the bible. It’s mentioned eight times in Song of Songs. Lily of the Valley symbolizes the virgin Mary and Christ’s birth, meaning a picture of purity.

Revelations 3:4

“The bride of the lamb will be clothed in white.”

Christian legend says that the Lily of the Valley sprang from the ground when the weeping virgin Mary during the crucifixion of Jesus. Other etiologies have the Lily of the Valley coming from being Eve’s tears afters she was driven with Adam from the Garden of Eden. Lily of the Valley symbolizes the sign of Christ’s second coming.

Lily of the Valley, a flower of the field, is a sweet scented highly poisonous woodland flowering plant that is native throughout cool temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere in Asia and Europe. Other names for this flower are May Bells, Our Lady’s Tears, and Mary’s tears.

Growing in the late spring or early March, in the colors of white and rarely it is pink. It contains small orange to red berries. And the butterflies eat off this flower.
