Loved Ones Who’ve Passed

--

By Zaina Starr

The Easter Lilly is what reminds me of my great grandfather, Alvin Jake Lee. He would always drive me out to the country, as a child, and have me pick the wild Easter Lillys.

Of course, I was timid to just get out just anywhere and pick flowers off someone else’s property. He told me it would be ok. I knew if my papaw said it was ok. Then it was ok. And it always was.

Sad part is the lillys never lasted very long. The Lilly never last long just like the time with our loved ones. Never lasts long. Enough time from each for beautiful memories that last us a lifetime.

Remember the smallest things and have the most beautiful memories.

“I know you think I’ve forgotten you, but I just remembered you”
